Great successes with new 5-layer technology especially in the Asian region |
While the rhythm of the global markets is still suffering from a lack of motion, Reifenhäuser demonstrates how it is possible to targetedly create an edge also in difficult times.
Presently, there is still little reason for the mechanical engineering industry to be too upbeat, but every crisis inheres the chance for improvement and offers the opportunity to actively use this phase to increase the tempo. In Q1 2009, the family-run Reifenhäuser company was able to successfully launch two further complete lines for the production of high-quality 5-layer films. A third line is just about to be shipped!
Convincing values
The benefits are perfectly obvious - and can be identified as clear competitive advantages despite a restrictive willingess to invest: The potential of 5-layer technology unfolds its effectiveness in the ideal combination of high performance and improved selectable film properties specifically adapted to customer requirements and, last but not least, a considerably extended range of products. As a result, an increasing substitution of typical 3-layer films for 5-layer films can be observed.
Novelties for highly sensitive film production
Reifenhäuser can give new imptus to the flagging markets through specific further development within the 3-layer technology: In the area of highly sensitive surface protection film used for example for LCD screens, two production lines have recently been taken into operation.
The high expectations posed for this special type of film, in particular with regard to optics and absence of fish eyes, have not only been met but even exceeded. Once again, the Reifenhäuser process engineers have achieved trailblazing results.
A new line will be delivered shortly in addition to the lines that are already in production.
Another line with 3400mm width for the production of this highly demanding film demonstrates that Reifenhäuser is able to meet the highest standards of quality even for this largest dimension worldwide.
Upswing technology from Troisdorf
The currently supplied lines feature optimal technology that enables Reifenhäuser customers to take a leading position on competitive marketplaces - especially for the start into a slowly emerging recovery phase of the global economy.
Reifenhäuser was also rewarded orders for four new large projects in Q2. This is a further step towards a rebound of the worldwide production in the plastics industry.
However, it also becomes obvious that hitech results and solutions remain in demand in a difficult market environment.
Reifenhäuser sees new potential for growth opportunities in the crisis, not least through intensive developments in the company's own technology centre in Troisdorf.
