The extruder, with the cast film die-head, is the core of each cast film line. On the technological front, Reifenhäuser's REIcofeed slider-adapter system for coextrusion of multi-layer composites and the automatic thermo bolt dies is state-of-the-art.
 

The REIcontrol automation system ensures continuous monitoring of all line functions and product parameters. Extra components for surface treatment, embossing units and gap stretching units round off the modular product program for cast film lines.

1 Extruder, Reitorque, Reitruder 

Thanks to the compact design of extruders with Reitorque technology, they are especially suitable for multi-layer cast film lines. They are equipped with gearless drive technology. These extruder series are characterised by:
30 % reduction in required space
Torques of 300 to 11,000 Nm at the usual extrusion speeds
Low maintenance requirements and high machine operability
Minimised noise (values below 78 dBA)
Simple screw change to the front or back of the extruder

In comparison with other procedures, the advantages of direct extrusion by means of a Reitruder mainly lie in the profitability and the quality standards of semi-finished products and finished products. In the Reitruder, the plastic is processed from source material to final product in one production process, without intermediate solidifying and remelting. Compared with pre-mixed compounds, direct extrusion thus saves you up to 30 % in raw material costs and simultaneously provides improved product properties.

2 Forming section

The single and multi-channel sheet die-heads, with 1,600 - 5,500 mm nominal widths and throughput of up to 3,000 kg/h, cover all conventional requirements. Continuous development of the distributor geometries guarantees optimal tolerances, a broad operation spectrum and low pressure use.

Different die control systems, various width adjustments and channel geometries designed for coextrusion make it possible to meet the most diverse customer requirements.

3 Casting section

To ensure optimal film quality, Reifenhäuser implements a high cooling process and a very smooth-running casting roll. For the cooling process, specially developed chill rolls with exact temperature precision across the entire roll surface are used. These are available in diameters up to 1,000 m, depending on the application.

The drive technology with high angle precision makes highly sensitive traction control possible and thus contributes to improved product quality.

4 Winder

Reifenhäuser's extensive cast film program includes the automatic cast film winder series with rotary arm concept.
 
The advantages of the MIDEX rotary arm winder are especially noticeable in the manufacturing of CPP films. The two independent winding arms enable very short changing times and thus minimises the amount of production rejects.

The modular design makes the system adaptable to the individual needs of the customer. Mechanical speeds of up to 350 m/min (as pure contact winder for stretch films: up to 500 m/min) can be achieved, and depending on the product and the number of webs, reel diameters of up to 1000 mm are possible.

5 Automation

Reifenhäuser implements the most modern bus systems such as Profibus and Industrial Ethernet and thus enables a decentralised structure and high line performance.

The process data and production parameters are recorded by means of a touch screen controller.
