Single-screw extruder
The single-screw extruder is
suitable for all source
materials that are in the form
of pellets or ground stock, for
the purpose of creating new
pellets from these materials,
which are then fed back into the
original process.
Furthermore normal pellets can
be refined, for example to
micropellets or to pellets that
permit simple additives to be
added.

Bitruder / Reitruder
Reifenhäuser offers complete
pelletising and recycling lines,
in combination with
Bitruders/Reitruders
respectively, for three
different processes:

Hot pelletising
In hot die-face cutting, the
round plastic strands that exit
the pelletising head are cut off
by a rotating knife. The
rotation speed of the knife, in
combination with the throughput
rate, determines the length of
the pellets.
The pellets are transported to
the pellet cooler by an air
current. Subsequently they are
cooled to temperatures suitable
for storage by means of flowing
air, using the "fluid bed system".
The illustrated pellet line
works with the described hot
die-face cutting procedure. A
special advantage of the
Reifenhäuser system is the ease
and speed with which the
pelletising head (see
illustration) and pellet cooler
can be cooled. By constantly
developing new, more modern and
powerful extruders throughout
the many decades of the
Reifenhäuser success story,
Reifenhäuser has built the
foundation that ensured that the
wide scope of plastic products
could be established on the
market. Regardless of which raw
material is subjected to the
thermal shaping process,
regardless of which product
exits the end of the production
line after the process is
complete: Without the
appropriate extruder at the
heart of the extrusion line,
nothing is possible.
