Reitruder: Modules
1 Drive unit
| The drive
unit consists of a high-power, low-noise
gear with integrated torque divider
which is connected to the AC or DC motor
by means of a clutch (in the case of the
RZE 43, by means of a belt drive gear). |
 |
|
2 Dosing unit
| Reitruders
are equipped with different dosing
units, depending on customer
requirements. By using volumetric or
gravimetric dosing units, the range of
options for the respective formulation
is dramatically increased. The
gravimetric dosing unit additionally
permits continuous weighing of the raw
materials and a constant melt
throughput. |
 |
|
3. Temperature control
| The
division of the barrel and screw into
zones depends on the production process
required for the specific product. This
guarantees a precise temperature profile
across the entire length of the barrel.
The temperatures of all barrel zones are
regulated individually. For heating,
resistance heater bands are used; for
cooling, air or fluid media serve as
heat transfer medium. |
 |
|
4 Barrel venting
| In the
venting area, the screw channels of
systems employing co-rotating, closely
intermeshing screws are only partially
filled with material. This permits
exceptionally efficient single-stage or
multi-stage venting. The vacuum unit,
together with the separator, is
installed in the extruder frame and is
readily accessible, like all elements
requiring service. |
 |
|
5 Operation
| The control
and monitoring unit is readily
accessible and easy to watch. This
facilitates optimal operation with
simultaneous product monitoring. |

6 Barrel / 7 Srews

The most important component in every Reitruder is the barrel and screw assembly. Its quality and design, which are carefully matched to the complex combination of the barrel, screws and raw material, have significant influence on the service life of the Reitruder and the quality and consistency of the final product. The Reitruder is designed on the modular principle. The barrel and screws can therefore be assembled in any combination to construct a plasticising unit with raw material infeed and venting. The two parallel, co-rotating screws closely intermesh and are self-cleaning. They are divided in segments. This enables the screw geometry to be adapted to the respective application. The order in which kneading and mixing elements are arranged can be freely selected, depending on the formulation. The screw segments and screw shaft are form-fit. Therefore, individual segments can easily be replaced and thus ideally adapted to the raw material to be processed. |
