As good as new: this is what a worn flat die looks like after a complete refurbishment

Technology
Flat dies
Reifenhäuser brings your die mechanically, electrically and technically up to date. All surfaces are ground, polished and restored to as-new condition, and all defective or worn parts are replaced.

At the latest when cleaning intervals are shortened or defects appear in the film, it is time to take a close look at the die - because it is a crucial component when it comes to productivity and quality. If the inspection reveals scratches in surfaces, damaged edges or worn parts, producers are faced with the decision to purchase a new die. However, this means a considerable investment and often long delivery times.

In many cases, a refurbishment of the die is more cost-effective. Reifenhäuser Extrusion Systems offers a comprehensive and manufacturer-independent refurbishment program for slot dies, special dies and coextrusion adapters.

This allows you to restore your extrusion dies - regardless of manufacturer - to their original condition with minimal investment. Our refurbishment experts specialize in the characteristics of different manufacturers.

When is it time for a die refurbishment?

Indications:

Shortened cleaning intervals
Defects in the film
Scratches in surfaces
Damaged edges
Worn parts

Before - after: the refurbishment process in detail

The flow channel is restored to as-new condition - for perfect melt flow and the best film quality.

The die control - in this case an automatic thermobolt adjustment system - is completely overhauled.

Defective mechanical and electrical components are replaced to ensure optimum operability.

All components are cleaned and made smooth-running.

Outdated electrical connections can be replaced with state-of-the-art components on request.

Wear, damage, corrosion and burnt-in polymer residues - we know almost no hopeless cases.

We grind, polish and check the entire die. The final inspection is carried out according to the same quality requirements as for our new dies.

After the refurbishment, you will receive a die that is as good as new in terms of function, quality and appearance.

A 4500 mm wide automatic die - before and after refurbishment.

This is how the die refurbishment works

For all repairs and refurbishments the following applies: We record the complete geometry of a die. Then we reproduce the geometry completely or optimize it, and restore the die to the latest state of the art - mechanically, electrically and thus technically.
